🔹Alibaba International Station's transaction volume in the Hong Kong region more than doubled in September.

Alibaba International Station's transaction volume in the Hong Kong region increased by 142% during the September procurement festival, indicating that more and more businesses are using the platform to expand their operations. To enhance competitiveness, Alibaba launched the AI tool 'AI Smart Assistant,' which improved the exposure of optimized products overseas by 37% and increased the payment conversion rate by 50%. In addition, Alibaba.com held a cross-border e-commerce competition themed 'Technology x Trade,' aimed at promoting learning and advancement within the e-commerce industry.

Recently, a ceremony was held in Guiyuan Street, Shenzhen's Luohu District, to inaugurate a logistics professional building and launch the "Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao Logistics Integration Circle." The event brought together various stakeholders, including businesses and associations, to discuss topics related to the development and upgrading of the logistics industry, aiming to strengthen the logistics sector in Luohu and promote high-quality growth.Guiyuan Street is a key area for economic activity in Luohu, home to 12 high-revenue buildings and over 60 logistics companies. During the ceremony, local logistics enterprises engaged in discussions with counterparts from Hong Kong and Macao, leading to strategic collaborations among five companies to enhance the integration of logistics and other industries in the region.

🔹Guangzhou Emerges as a Leading Hub in China's Rapidly Growing Cosmetics Industry

China's "beautiful economy" has rapidly risen, becoming the world's second-largest cosmetics market, with Guangdong leading the industry. According to the "2024 Guangzhou Cosmetics Industry White Paper," Guangzhou alone has 1,841 cosmetics production companies, accounting for 56% of the province and 31% of the country, with an annual output value exceeding 100 billion yuan.The second Guangzhou International Beauty Week recently opened, attracting over 2,000 attendees, including experts and industry representatives. Guangzhou aims to establish itself as a global center for cosmetics R&D, manufacturing, and sales, while the Hong Kong Cosmetics Industry Association seeks partnerships with quality mainland brands to expand market opportunities and strengthen the Greater Bay Area as a key hub for cosmetics trade.

🔹First batch of direct transport cargo through Peru’s Chancay port to arrive in Shanghai

The first batch of direct cargo from Chancay Port in Peru, which includes over 20,000 tons of specialty fruits, has completed customs pre-declaration and will arrive at Shanghai on Wednesday. This marks the initial bidirectional connection between Chancay and Shanghai ports, enhancing trade efficiency and reducing shipping times to China to 23 days, while also cutting logistics costs by at least 20%.Chancay Port, inaugurated on November 14, 2024, is part of the Belt and Road Initiative and is expected to generate $4.5 billion in annual revenues for Peru and create over 8,000 jobs, positioning it as a key logistics hub between Latin America and Asia.

🔹Airbus builds strong supply chain in Tianjin China

Airbus has opened its first safety promotion center in China at its facility in Tianjin, aiming to strengthen safety culture and awareness in the aviation industry. The center will enhance understanding of aviation safety among domestic and international partners, while Airbus continues to expand its industrial presence in China, focusing on increasing production capacity to meet market demand.With plans for a second A320 Family Final Assembly Line expected to be operational by 2026, Airbus aims to enhance cooperation with Chinese suppliers, particularly in the production of wings and fuselage components. The company emphasizes the importance of the Chinese supply chain in the global aviation industry, highlighting its commitment to long-term partnerships and contributions to both China's aviation development and the global market.

🔹New direct shipping route between China, southeast Africa opens in E China's Qingdao

The cargo ship "GREEN NAGOYA" was seen being loaded at Qingdao Port in Shandong Province, China, on December 16, 2024. It is set to arrive at Dar es Salaam Port in Tanzania in approximately 20 days, following the official opening of a new direct shipping route between Qingdao and Southeast Africa. This weekly route provides a safe and fast maritime shipping option between China and Africa.

 

 

 Vietnam

🔹Vietnam’s $126mn cargo transshipment area bordering China to open in 2025

A cargo transshipment hub is being developed in Lang Son Province, northern Vietnam, with an investment of over VND 3.2 trillion (US$126 million), expected to begin operations in early 2025. The first phase, covering 58 hectares, will include logistics services such as container yards and warehouses.In 2024, the province saw a daily average of 1,300 trucks for import and export, with a total import-export value of approximately $66 billion, a significant increase from the previous year. The local government is enhancing infrastructure and smart border gate operations to boost trade, particularly with China's Guangxi Province, which has also seen increased trade with Vietnam.

 

 

 South Korea

🔹South Korea to build new port with $10B investment

The South Korean government plans to invest around $10 billion in a new port in Changwon, near Busan, along with upgrades to Busan Port by 2045, aiming to create the world's largest container handling capacity. The project will unify the new and existing ports into a "mega port," doubling the current cargo capacity, accommodating 66 vessels instead of 40, and extending berth length to 25.5 kilometers. To enhance competitiveness as a global transshipment hub, the initiative will also incorporate carbon-free renewable energy sources for port operations.

🔹American Airlines Cargo enhances operations at London Heathrow

American Airlines Cargo is enhancing its operations at London Heathrow Airport (LHR) by moving to a new, larger facility that combines its import and export functions. The new building spans 120,000 square feet, increasing storage capacity and improving efficiency with additional features like X-ray machines and increased access points. Alongside the facility upgrade, American Airlines has improved its digital communication with Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) to streamline operations. This expansion aims to enhance service quality for customers shipping through LHR, where the airline currently operates up to 20 widebody flights daily to major U.S. hubs.

 

 

 Bangladesh

🔹Direct Shipping Service Between Pakistan and Bangladesh Expands with Yuan Xiang Fa Zhan's Second Voyage

A container ship, the Yuan Xiang Fa Zhan, has embarked on its second voyage to Chattogram port, following its inaugural trip from Karachi, Pakistan, under a new direct shipping service between the two countries. The Panama-flagged vessel is expected to arrive carrying 825 TEUs of import containers and plans to take around 1,200 TEUs of export containers back, primarily empty, as it continues its route connecting multiple countries. If cargo volume increases, the shipping line may deploy additional ships on this route, which currently sees the vessel arriving every 38 to 40 days.

 

 Myanmar

🔹Fish cargo boat arrives from Myanmar after 9 days

A fish cargo boat has resumed operations at Teknaf Land Port in Cox's Bazar after a nine-day suspension due to conflict in Myanmar's Rakhine State. The boat arrived carrying 108 tons of ilish, rui, and katla fish from Yangon, marking the first cargo since December 6. The ongoing conflict has severely disrupted trade at the port, with officials noting a significant decline in both imports and exports compared to previous fiscal years. Normal operations are unlikely to resume until the situation stabilizes in Myanmar.
