The General Administration of Customs of China and Hong Kong Customs have launched the "Single Submission for Dual Declaration" Scheme, allowing enterprises to complete customs declarations for both regions with a single submission of road cargo information. Initially trialed with three companies at specific border control points, the scheme enhances accuracy, saves time, and reduces costs for customs declarations. Future plans include extending the scheme to cover cargo exported from Hong Kong to the Mainland for comprehensive road cargo clearance.

🔹Construction Begins on Phase Two of Shenzhen's Largest Railway Logistics Center

On November 27, construction began on the second phase of the Shenzhen International Comprehensive Logistics Hub, which is the largest single-unit railway logistics center in China. Covering an area of 1,350 acres with a total investment of 9.039 billion yuan, the project aims to create a multifunctional smart logistics park above a traditional railway freight station. Once completed, it will enhance the efficiency of the China-Europe Railway Express and support Shenzhen's goal of becoming a global logistics hub, integrating rail and urban logistics services.

🔹Vietnam’s logistics sector seeks double-digit growth in 2025

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that Vietnam aims to enhance its logistics infrastructure to achieve double-digit growth in the logistics sector next year. Speaking at the Vietnam Logistics Forum 2024, he emphasized the need to reduce logistics costs from 18% to 15% of GDP by 2025, while increasing logistics value from 10% to 15% of GDP. He highlighted the importance of logistics in national development, advocating for smart governance, logistics diplomacy, and improved connectivity among various transport modes to bolster Vietnam's position in the global logistics market.

🔹US approves Korean takeover of Asiana

The U.S. has approved Korean Air's acquisition of Asiana Airlines, marking the final regulatory clearance for the deal. The U.S. Department of Justice indicated that it would not file a monopoly lawsuit, effectively granting approval. This follows the European Commission's earlier confirmation of the acquisition, contingent on Korean Air divesting Asiana's cargo business to address competition concerns. The sale, valued at approximately $342 million, was agreed upon with Air Incheon, allowing Korean Air to proceed with the acquisition initially proposed in November 2020.

🔹Houthis attack US cargo ships

The U.S. military reported that its warships successfully defended three U.S.-flagged merchant ships from Houthi militia attacks in the Gulf of Aden from November 30 to December 1. Destroyers USS Stockdale and USS O’Kane intercepted various Houthi-launched weapons, ensuring the safety of the vessels and their crews. The Houthis claimed their strikes targeted ships allegedly supporting the U.S. military, amidst rising tensions related to the ongoing conflict in Syria and the strategic importance of the Gulf of Aden as a key trade route.

🔹Bangladesh-Pakistan direct flights to begin soon

Bangladesh's Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi, SM Mahbubul Alam, announced that direct flights between Pakistan and Bangladesh will soon begin, enhancing ties between the two nations and their business communities. He also mentioned plans for an exhibition for importers and exporters in Hyderabad, as well as an invitation for participation in the Annual Trade Exhibition in Dhaka in January 2025, with streamlined visa processes to facilitate attendance. Alam highlighted the need for stronger trade relations, noting Bangladesh's significant exports and the progress made in trade ties, including the first direct cargo shipment from Pakistan to Bangladesh. HCSTSI President Muhammad Saleem Memon emphasized the importance of collaboration and suggested establishing a direct trade line to improve efficiency.

🔹Thailand PM protests Myanmar's navy firing at Thai fishing boats

Thailand has protested after Myanmar's navy fired on Thai fishing vessels, resulting in one fisherman drowning, two injuries, and dozens of detentions. Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra challenged Myanmar's claims that the boats had intruded into its territorial waters, while the Thai defense ministry reported that two of 15 fishing vessels were attacked when they were 4-5.7 nautical miles inside Myanmar's waters near Ranong.
