🔹DHL Express links Hong Kong and Jakarta

DHL Express is launching new freighter flights between Hong Kong and Jakarta to meet increasing demand, utilizing a Boeing 737-800 freighter with a 20-tonne capacity, operating four times a week. This direct service will expedite the delivery of shipments, including e-commerce, from several key Asian markets through Hong Kong's Central Asia Hub. According to Andy Chiang, DHL Express's senior vice president, this expansion enhances connectivity in the Asia Pacific and supports the growing need for efficient logistics solutions. In 2022, Indonesia was Hong Kong's sixth-largest trading partner within ASEAN, with bilateral trade amounting to $5.7 billion, highlighting the importance of Indonesia's manufacturing sector to its economy.

🔹SF Express launches the country's first rail logistics station in Shenzhen: Air Drones + Ground Stations + Underground Autonomous Vehicles + Subway

On October 2, IT之家 reported that Shenzhen SF Express, in collaboration with Shenzhen Metro Group, launched the country's first rail logistics station on September 30.This station integrates a low-altitude air-rail logistics network utilizing drones, ground stations, autonomous vehicles, and subways.The Shenzhen Futian rail logistics station operates from 9:30 AM to 11:00 PM, aligning with other commercial outlets in the Futian Hub.Drones will transport packages directly to the Futian subway station, reducing collection time by 50% compared to previous delivery methods.On the same day, a smart exhibition hall opened at the Futian Hub, showcasing delivery robots, autonomous vehicles, and the ARK 80 drone.The exhibition also features smart lockers, the first of their kind installed in a subway station, with plans for over 20 additional smart lockers across Shenzhen's subway stations during the National Day holiday.SF Express primarily uses autonomous delivery vehicles for short-distance transfers between ground locations and subway stations.All packages transported via subway are sorted and checked at the Futian Hub before being loaded onto delivery vehicles.Currently, the station has deployed 10 autonomous delivery vehicles with a capacity of 500 kg, equipped with advanced sensors for comprehensive environmental awareness.In November, the first "air-rail intermodal" logistics demonstration line in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will commence operations, aiming to transport over 30,000 packages daily between key locations.

Airports Council International (ACI) World has announced that Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport will host the 2025 ACI World Airport Experience Summit from September 8–11 in Guangzhou, China. This decision underscores China's significant role in global aviation, marked by its expanding network of airports and airlines, and the airport's impressive growth, which saw a 142% increase in passenger traffic in 2023. ACI World Director General Justin Erbacci emphasized the airport's resilience and its focus on customer experience, while Mr. Wang Xiaoyong, Chair of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Co., Ltd, extended an invitation to global aviation industry peers to participate in this premier event, highlighting Guangzhou as a vibrant cultural and economic hub.

🔹Qingdao Hai Feng Shipping Sells a 907-TEU Container Ship

Hai Feng International (01308) announced that today, its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary Hainan Hai Feng Shipping sold a 907-TEU container ship to Shandong Hai Feng Shipping for a price of $5.5 million (approximately HKD 42.97 million).
The group stated that the buyer, Shandong Hai Feng Shipping, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Qingdao Hai Feng, which is indirectly 43.85% owned by Liu Rongli, the mother of Yang Xin, a non-executive director and spouse of Yang Shaopeng, a former director and controlling shareholder of the company.
The group pointed out that the buyer holds the operating rights for the Taiwan route and has entrusted the group to manage these rights. The vessel currently operating on the Taiwan route, "Hai Feng Lian Xing," is over 22 years old, and its operating and maintenance costs are relatively high. Therefore, it has been decided to sell the vessel to the buyer to replace the aging ship operating on the Taiwan route. The group expects to realize a sale profit of approximately $642,500 (about HKD 5.0197 million).

Despite the positive growth driven by Vietnam's adaptability and the logistics sector's contributions, challenges remain, including market unpredictability and increasing demands for greener supply chains from the EU. Vietnam is positioned as a key supplier of consumer goods and high-tech products to Europe, but to sustain this growth, the country must enhance its logistics infrastructure and address EU regulations on emissions in maritime transport.

JD Logistics, the logistics branch of JD.com, has launched a new express delivery service targeting Japan and South Korea to meet the rising demand for cross-border logistics. With the capability to collect parcels within an hour of order placement, JD Logistics enhances its international operations, having already introduced services covering nearly 30 countries since late 2023. The company aims to leverage its advanced warehousing network to significantly reduce delivery times and improve customer experience, with plans for further investments in the region to support its growth.

🔹Myanmar Junta Receives Six More Chinese Warplanes Amid Deadly Airstrikes on Civilians 

In August, Myanmar's military junta received six FTC-2000G midrange fighter jets from China, which are intended to enhance its aerial bombardment capabilities against ethnic armies amidst ongoing civil conflict. The aircraft, delayed in delivery and pilot training due to the COVID-19 pandemic, are part of a 2020 order and can perform various roles including attack and reconnaissance, with a payload capacity of up to 3 tonnes. Their arrival coincides with increased military cooperation between China and Myanmar, following a meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and junta leader Min Aung Hlaing. This military support has been linked to a spike in airstrikes on civilian targets, resulting in significant casualties, including many children.
