🔹Advancing "Guangdong Vehicles Southbound" Plan to Facilitate Cross-border Exchanges

On May 26, Hong Kong’s Transport and Logistics Bureau announced collaboration with the Chinese mainland to advance the "Guangdong Vehicles Southbound" plan, with clearance details to be released within the year. Referencing the "Hong Kong Vehicles Northbound" model, Guangdong vehicles may directly enter Hong Kong’s urban areas, enhancing personnel exchanges and economic cooperation between Guangdong and Hong Kong.

On May 27, Nanyuan Street in Longgang District, Shenzhen, organized a cross-border e-commerce industry survey. Investigators visited Conley City (a national e-commerce demonstration base and Guangdong cross-border e-commerce industrial park housing leading enterprises like Saiwei Times and Aoji); Sinotrans (China’s only 5A-rated integrated logistics enterprise and the largest bulk cargo consolidation platform in South China); Shenzhen International Integrated Logistics Hub (a national logistics hub operating China–Europe, China–Laos, and domestic routes like Shenzhen–Shanghai and Shenzhen–Ningbo); and Longgang Cross-border E-commerce Operation Center (the only cross-border e-commerce customs supervision site in eastern Shenzhen). Participants discussed challenges such as high logistics costs, insufficient policy support, talent shortages, and inadequate transportation, proposing precise policy support, targeted fiscal subsidies, and special talent introduction plans.

Ahead of the "618" shopping festival, China Southern Airlines Logistics boosted cross-border e-commerce transport, handling over 10,000 tons of international export cargo weekly. Electronics (phones, robotic vacuums) saw a 40% month-on-month increase. Optimized "double pre-check" security and customs processes shortened overall clearance time by 70%, ensuring efficient cargo delivery for "618" and aiding Chinese brands’ global expansion.

🔹 Two-way Connectivity of TIR International Road Transport Enhances Logistics Efficiency

On May 26, under the supervision of Shanghai Station Customs, Shanghai’s first TIR international road transport export cargo was cleared, with three second-hand new energy vehicles departing for Minsk, Belarus. Following the first import TIR operation in March 2024, this marks two-way connectivity. The TIR model reduces waiting time and costs by verifying certificates and seals (no unpacking required), enabling one-time declaration and direct delivery. Shanghai Station Customs provided dedicated services, including enterprise consultation, regulatory guidelines, and vehicle tracking.

Tianjin plays a pivotal role in cold chain logistics, accounting for 30% of China’s meat imports—60% of Brazilian beef and 75% of Danish pork heads enter via Tianjin, earning it the title of northern "frozen products capital". Relying on direct South America–West routes, Chilean cherries reach the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region within 5 hours, with 30,000 tons cleared and distributed rapidly, demonstrating Tianjin’s robust cold chain capabilities and operational efficiency.

🔹 Launching Regular Route to Cheongju, South Korea, to Build Sino-Korean Air Bridge

On May 26, Qingdao Airport, in collaboration with Korea Air and Caesar Travel, launched a regular route to Cheongju, the fourth fixed route to South Korea. This establishes an "air bridge" between Shandong and central South Korea, promoting personnel exchanges, economic cooperation, and cultural ties.

🔹 DHL and Shopify Deepen Collaboration to Simplify Cross-border Logistics

On May 27, DHL announced a deepened partnership with e-commerce platform Shopify, integrating DHL services into Shopify’s logistics platform. This allows global merchants to access DHL’s global transport network with minimal clicks, assisting with complex customs declarations and legal affairs. The DHL integration has launched first in the US and Germany, with the "Delivered Duty Paid (DDP)" model simplifying cross-border e-commerce for US merchants and eliminating extra costs for consumers.

🔹 Chittagong Port Customs Strike Disrupts Logistics

Following Bangladesh’s Temporary Government’s decree to dissolve the National Board of Revenue (NBR) on May 12, the national tax system fell into turmoil. By May 24, Chittagong Customs’ full strike caused 7,000 daily customs declarations to backlog, container stockpiles to exceed 44,000 TEUs, and daily importer losses to reach $38 million. Local media termed this the "worst customs crisis in a decade", straining supply chains and cash flows of Chinese enterprises in Bangladesh.

🔹  Yangon–Chengdu Full-cargo Route Launched to Boost Sino-Myanmar Trade

On May 26, JD Aviation’s Boeing 737–800BCF departed Yangon for Chengdu, inaugurating the "Yangon–Chengdu" full-cargo route (3 weekly flights, 20-ton capacity). The route shortens Myanmar’s textile delivery times, reduces logistics costs, and enhances product competitiveness, expected to create 3,000 jobs in Bago Industrial Zone. Return flights transport Chinese electronic components and machinery to aid Myanmar’s manufacturing upgrade. For Myanmar’s fisheries, live seafood like crabs and lobsters from Yangon and Ayeyarwady Region reach Chengdu within 12 hours via cold chain air transport, boosting price competitiveness by 30%. JD Aviation signed a tripartite agreement to increase flights and explore cold chain logistics and cross-border e-commerce, with Myanmar aiming to raise exports to China to $12 billion by 2026 (25% growth from 2024) through "air-rail intermodal" integration.
